 ABES ACADEMY, education sector of the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES), launches a new class of the “General Data Protection Law: fundamentals and implementation – the most complete course on the LGPD”. Conducted online, the course has 8 classes lasting 3 hours each and takes place from 4 pm to 7 pm, from 10/18 to 10/21 and from 10/25 to 28, with a total workload of 24 hours. The Data Protection Law was enacted in 2018 and entered into force on September 18, 2020 - with the publication of Law 14.058/20 - remaining in force Articles 52, 53 and 54, which deal with administrative sanctions, which entered into effective August 1st. It provides for the processing of personal data, including in digital media, by an individual or legal entity governed by public or private law, in order to protect the fundamental rights of freedom and privacy and freedom development of the citizen's personality.

In case of security incidents, the LGPD foresees different administrative sanctions, such as a fine that can reach up to R$ 50,000,000.00 per infraction, warning, publicizing the infraction; blocking of the personal data to which the infringement refers until its regularization; deletion of personal data referred to in the infringement or even the total or partial prohibition of activities related to data processing, for example in the event of personal data leakage (whether due to technical failure, human action or hacker attack).

Thus, ABES gathered in a single course all the necessary information on data protection, privacy and information security in Brazil, updated with case studies and news on the performance of the National Data Protection Authority, to assist in the adaptation the organization to the LGPD.
