The ABES Fellowship Program 2024, in partnership with IEA/USP, is accepting applications from doctoral students, postdoctoral students and PhDs from national or international academic institutions. The objective is to foster the production of knowledge for public policies and innovation in Brazil, emphasizing digitalization and the reduction of inequalities. Research may cover technological, social, economic and sustainability areas, valuing inter and transdisciplinary approaches.
The program is managed by the Center for Intelligence, Public Policy and Innovation at Abes, known as Think Tank, which will promote connections between participants and related research networks. The IEA will also facilitate the integration of researchers with USP groups. Two vacancies will be made available per research topic, which may be expanded by the Selection Committee. “Our initiative seeks to integrate academic research with concrete challenges, strengthening the intersection between academia, the private sector and government for a more developed and innovative society, in addition to contributing to the improvement of public policies”, highlights Jamile Sabatini Marques, Director of Think Tank. More than 20 researchers are currently at Think Tank, which celebrated one year of activity in early 2024.
Research topics and activities
Research topics with available vacancies include Artificial Intelligence, Digital Platforms, Digital Government, Digital Identity, Privacy, Cybersecurity, among others. Applications are made via an online form, and the selection process involves document analysis, with the Selection Committee having the option of calling candidates for an interview. The Think Tank may request original documents to authenticate the registered files. Applications are open until December 30, 2024.
Those selected must sign a Term of Responsibility electronically, with activities beginning within two days after signing. In addition to the research, they are expected to participate in meetings of ABES Committees and Working Groups, in person or online, related to their topics. The monthly workload is approximately ten hours. The program does not provide for remuneration. Participants must also complete two annual training courses: “An Ethical Company on Compliance” and “LGPD Abes Academy” – totaling six hours, with the right to certification. Researchers are invited to be speakers at events, to publish articles in the press, to publish books, among other activities.
