Data platform InterSystems IRIS for Health supports Shift to integrate its Shift tool LIS (Laboratory Information System) to the National Health Data Network via cloud service

Shift, a Brazilian information technology company specialized in solutions for diagnostic medicine, has developed an agile way of integrating and communicating data so that the country's laboratories comply with Ordinance 1,792, published by the Ministry of Health. The ordinance made notification mandatory to the ministry of all the results of diagnostic tests for the detection of COVID-19 carried out by public, private, university and other laboratories in the entire national territory, within 24 hours.

Using the InterSystems IRIS for Health data platform, Shift developed the integration of the Shift LIS (Laboratory Information System) with the National Health Data Network (RNDS) through a cloud service that allows automatic updating of all data. data from clinical analysis laboratories, in addition to centralizing the service for communicating the results of these laboratories with the Ministry of Health. “Thanks to our partnership with InterSystems, our customers are able to send their data automatically and in real time to the RNDS, counting on cutting edge technology and world standards of interoperability in the health sector ”, says Marcelo Lorencin, president and founder of Shift. His company provides services to the largest laboratories in the country and is responsible for processing more than 280 million exams in Brazil annually.

It is worth mentioning that the InterSystems data platform supports the main health services interoperability standards and certifications, including FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources in versions STU3 and R4, the latter being used by RNDS), FHIR repository, SMART resources on FHIR, Health Level Seven (HL7) versions 2 and 3, Consolidated CDA (C-CDA), Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), X12, NCPDP, DICOM and others.

In the opinion of Alexandre Tunes, InterSystems Brasil's country manager, "InterSystems IRIS for Health ™ is the first and only data platform in the world developed specifically to extract value from health data, allowing developers to quickly create and scale innovative applications". In addition, healthcare organizations also rely on InterSystems HealthShare and TrakCare solutions.

Safety and reliability

For Marcelo Lorencin, the service created by Shift was possible because InterSystems IRIS for Health is a complete platform for creating health solutions, with interoperability features that provide reliability, speed and scalability of the platform. “At its core, the platform has a high-performance database, used in mission-critical applications, with multidimensional access capable of executing competing analytical and transactional workloads, enabling the execution of predictive models dynamically in response events and transactions, data exploration, generation of reports and alerts, sending information using various protocols and standards, all in real time ”, he concludes.
