Rimini Protect™ Advanced Database Security Suite Delivers Greater Flexibility and Enhanced Security for Oracle, SAP, IBM, PostgreSQL and Others, Plus Rimini Street’s Unique Capabilities Among Independent Support Providers
THE Rimini Street, Inc. (Nasdaq: RMNI), a global provider of end-to-end enterprise software support, products and services, the leading third-party support provider for Oracle and SAP software, and an AWS partner, today announced expanded database security services and solutions to provide more personalized, flexible and proactive coverage for all organizations, whether supported by the vendor or not.
Rimini Protect™ Advanced Database Security Suite (ADSS) is built on Advanced Database Security (ADS), a zero-day security solution that addresses entire categories of weaknesses and other vulnerabilities.
ADSS currently includes:
- Database Evaluation
- Database Discovery
- Custom Rules
And the plans include:
- Security Rules Software Development Kit (SDK) in 2025
These new ADSS modules are available individually or as a bundle through a subscription model offered exclusively by Rimini Street. The combined strengths of ADSS solutions and services help mitigate risk by closely monitoring and proactively protecting critical databases. With Rimini Street, organizations gain greater control over their security posture at a flexible cost. Additionally, clients can leverage the expertise of the security team to maximize the benefits of these new modules with Managed Security Services and Professional Security Services.
“As the first to launch the ADS solution in third-party support, we have seen attempts to emulate our unique and advanced approach,” said Gabe Dimeglio, group vice president and general manager, Rimini Protect™. “As a proven global leader in independent support, we hold ourselves to a higher standard, which is why we continue to invest in partnerships and develop in-house talent to implement, operate and solve enterprise database security challenges.”
Advanced Database Security (ADS) expands to Advanced Database Security Suite (ADSS), includes unique, vital security and compliance capabilities
Expanded capabilities allow customers to benefit from:
- Database Evaluation: Helps you monitor your environment and identify security and compliance issues more efficiently with over 7,000 security checks, including audit configurations, database configuration checks, and compliance benchmarks for common regulatory standards including HIPAA, PCI-DSS, GDPR, SOX, and more.
- Database Discovery: Identifies forgotten databases and helps protect data across the entire database, ensuring that users have appropriate levels of access.
- Custom Rules: Enables the creation of custom rules for specific governance, risk management, and compliance needs, such as custom security policies for industry regulations or IT governance standards, enhancing change control processes, logging access to sensitive data or elevated privileges for auditing, and threshold alerts.
- Security Rules SDK: Enables the Rimini Protect team to develop security rules to further protect databases against evolving threats and attacks, a Rimini Street exclusive among third-party support providers.
Rimini Street is also the only independent support provider that offers clients the ability to create Custom Rules for specific governance, risk management and compliance needs, and now offers the ability to develop situation-specific rules with Managed Security Services or Professional Security Services.
“Rimini Street’s ability to create new Security Rules and Custom Rules will be a true game-changer for our clients’ database security. We will leverage Rimini Street’s extensive database and security expertise to create new Security Rules that proactively protect commercial and open source databases from threats, delivering critical security and compliance capabilities not available anywhere else in the market. The use cases for Custom Rules are limitless, from auditing financial transactions or alerting on permission changes to blocking specific actions and/or changes to the database or its structure. This is a comprehensive solution that brings relevant enforcement, compliance, auditing and reporting capabilities that are truly unique to the needs of the business,” said Dimeglio.
Advanced Database Security Provides a Foundation of Proactive Protection and Active Defense
Advanced Database Security ensures proactive protection and active defense
Rimini Protect™ Advanced Database Security Suite complements and enhances existing security strategies by protecting databases against active exploits, known and unknown threats and vulnerabilities, all without modifying vendor code or security patches.
The main advantages of ADSS include:
- Ease of use: Provides easy deployment and configuration capabilities, so product and security updates can be dynamically updated without restarting database services.
- Detection: Provides granular database monitoring and monitors multiple database attack points including network, local host, and intra-database.
- Protection: Prevents intrusions, data theft and other attacks on Database Management Systems (DBMS) by enabling exclusion and quarantine of suspicious users from database access, and includes detailed audit and user activity information for faster digital forensics and incident response (DFIR).
For the Ricoh Company, Ltd., a global leader in imaging and digital transformation solutions, choosing Rimini Street security services for its Oracle database resulted in real-time, zero-day protection against vulnerabilities without extensive downtime.
Keisuke Hamanaka, Ricoh’s vice general manager of Process, IT and Data Management, explained that since making the decision to move from Oracle, the company’s priority has been to maintain and protect its current systems. “We benchmarked against other companies offering similar services and concluded that Rimini Street is the only partner that can serve the Japanese market with the high-quality support and protection we desire, and at a price that is in line with our financial objectives,” said Hamanaka.
