The first woman to take over the company's management in the country, the executive will have the mission of maintaining the growth of operations, expanding the use of open source solutions with a focus on hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence
Red Hat, a world leader in providing open source solutions, has a new Country Manager for Brazil. Sandra Vaz, currently Vice President of the Partner Ecosystem for Latin America, takes over the position held for the last decade by Gilson Magalhães, who was appointed Vice President and General Manager for the region in October of this year. The first woman to take over the company's management in the country, Sandra will be tasked with maintaining the company's accelerated growth, expanding the use of open source solutions to drive innovative projects, such as PIX.
The new Country Manager will focus on driving the incorporation of emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence, virtualization and automation, in addition to continuing to work on consolidating alliances with important players. “It is an honor to take on this role, especially as the first woman to lead the company’s operations in the country,” said Sandra. “Red Hat’s history is written by its disruptive nature, cutting-edge mentality and collaborative culture, brands that I will certainly spare no effort to continue promoting in the local context,” she added.
With over 30 years of experience in the IT market, Sandra joined Red Hat in 2021 with the challenge of managing and developing strategic channels and alliances to promote the sustainable growth of Red Hat and partners in Latin America. Throughout her career, she has held important leadership positions at companies in the sector such as Oracle, where she spent over 14 years, SAP, Bull and Cobra Computadores.
Consolidated market
Founded in 1993 in Raleigh, United States, Red Hat arrived in Latin America in 2006, with offices in Brazil and Argentina. Since then, it has earned the trust of hundreds of public and private sector customers throughout the region. With several success stories in different areas, the company has positioned itself as the main driver of the open hybrid cloud, with a robust portfolio of solutions that have helped companies in the region advance their digital transformation. Recent initiatives such as the cases of PIX, Banco da Amazônia and the database of Prodesp, the technology agency of the State of São Paulo, corroborate the company's good practices.
A large part of this trajectory in Brazil was led by Gilson Magalhães, who, together with other executives and specialists, leveraged the region's results. “We faced challenges, but we achieved great opportunities to promote open source in the country. Our belief in an open and collaborative work model has allowed us to lead IT innovation over the years, consolidating Red Hat's name in the country as an important partner for public and private initiatives,” highlighted Magalhães.
For the executive, who has been in charge of operations for Latin America since October, the Brazilian office is in excellent hands. “Sandra is an exemplary professional, with extensive knowledge in the world of open source and enterprise IT, in addition to a long-standing relationship with partners and customers from across the sector. I am confident that we are beginning to write a new and important chapter for Red Hat in Brazil, with results that will undoubtedly continue to position the country as one of the company’s global leaders,” he concludes.
