IBM Skillsbuild has trained over 11.5 million people globally and is introducing new AI-focused learning paths since August
IBM understands that access to technology knowledge, especially as it relates to artificial intelligence (AI), is crucial for today’s workforce. That’s why the company has committed to training 30 million people by 2030, and part of that goal is to train 2 million people in AI skills by 2026.
This public commitment aims to close the technology skills gap and expand access to STEM education for people at different levels of professional experience and with different expertise in the subject, especially those from underrepresented communities.
High school students, college students, teachers and people over 18 looking to acquire new skills can apply for the program. IBM Skillsbuild offers graduates of selected tracks digital credentials that facilitate their entry into the job market.
Since the goal was announced at the end of 2021, more than 11.5 million people have engaged with the free content of the IBM Skillsbuild program, which is available in 20 languages, including Portuguese. There are more than a thousand courses that cover topics such as AI, sustainability, cloud computing, among other technical and skills disciplines, such as Design Thinking.
In August, we will be holding a trilogy of live sessions/classes with our Artificial Intelligence experts, with the aim of demystifying concepts, exploring real applications and discussing the future of artificial intelligence and its impact on our daily lives. The first session will be on August 8th and to register, simply register on SkillsBuild through from this link and register on the trilogy page.
“The technical workforce gap in Brazil regarding AI is 540,000* people, which means there is enormous potential that technology can bring to education, as long as future professionals are trained. This initiative is part of our commitment to society regarding the future of work,” says Flávia Freitas, CSR leader for IBM Latin America.
Furthermore, the study IBM AI Adoption Index reveals that, following the global trend, in Latin American companies the biggest barrier to AI adoption is limited skills, knowledge or expertise in AI.
