With the advancement of cyber risks and crimes, concerns about digital security have assumed strategic relevance for organizations around the world. In Brazil, this reality is no different. In response to this growing demand, BSA | The Software Alliance, with the support of the Brazilian Association of Software Companies (ABES), launches the Portuguese version of a essential guide which aims to guide board members and executives in managing cybersecurity risks.

Antonio Eduardo Mendes Da Silva (Pitanga), Country Manager Brazil at BSA I The Software Alliance, highlights the importance of this launch: “With the advancement of cyber risks and crimes, concerns about security have assumed strategic relevance for organizations. Given this, cybersecurity responsibilities are not limited to a CIO, CISO or the IT team. Board members and C-suite executives need to engage on the topic, determine priorities, and understand the likely impact of a potential cyber incident on the company's health and bottom line. Therefore, BSA presents this guide to help with management of cybersecurity risks for board members and executives and makes this relevant material available in the Brazilian market with the support of ABES”.

Cybersecurity: the need for involvement of top executives

Andriei Gutierrez, Vice President of ABES, also highlights the importance of the initiative in a broader context of digital transformation. “With digital transformation, it is of great importance that the top management of organizations expand the horizons of what they understand as governance. Relevant topics such as cybersecurity, privacy and responsible adoption of AI must increasingly be explored and appropriated by councils and management. Good governance in the 21st Century will inevitably be increasingly digital. And it is with great pride that ABES makes this relevant contribution to cybersecurity in the governance of Brazilian organizations.”

This launch highlights a paradigm shift in corporate security: cybersecurity is no longer a topic restricted to IT teams. Executives, advisors and business leaders are now an integral part of the front line defending against digital threats. Responsibility for strategic decisions related to digital security must be shared by everyone, thus ensuring that the organization is prepared to face the challenges of the modern world. The era of cybersecurity as a siled responsibility is over. Now, more than ever, it is essential that senior management is prepared and engaged in defending against digital risks.
