Although ransomware cases dropped by 43% last year compared to 2020, experts say this is because attacks are more targeted, aiming for the highest possible profit with the least effort. Business Email Compromise (BEC) detections also dropped by 11%. However, there was an 83% increase in BEC threat blocking by the Trend Micro tool that performs writing style analysis using Artificial Intelligence (AI) features, which indicates that the scams are getting more sophisticated.
