ABES gathered members and guests for its traditional social dinner, on December 11, at Espaço Trio One, in São Paulo.

Jorge Sukarie, Chairman of the Board, welcomed the guests, with an optimistic speech regarding the recovery of all sectors of the economy, especially for IT and ICT. “The expectation for this year is that the IT sector will grow around 4% and that of ICT 2%. For the next year, the expectation is even better, 6% for the IT sector and 4% for the ICT sector ”.

Following, Francisco Camargo, president of ABES, addressed the entity's position and performance in relation to the legal scenario, highlighting the positive points that reduced insecurity during 2017, such as the approval of the Outsourcing Law, the Labor Reform and the ISS Law in São Paulo, but also warned of the main threats to the sector, such as the INSS on gross revenue, the ICMS on software and the possible reform of the PIS and Cofins.

“The most worrying tax issue that will be debated in 2018 is that of the ICMS on software. We are creating a fund for the defense of the sector, together with other entities, in order to carry out actions in Brasilia and have the specialized support of a law firm in the Federal District ”, informed Camargo.

Fabio Rua, coordinator of the ABES Regulatory Committee, also spoke to the guests about the growth of the “Brasil, País Digital” Movement, which aims to raise awareness among the population about the importance of data. “More and more, we see society's interest in this topic. We end the year with more than 160 thousand likes on Facebook and growing engagement of people, in addition to the profile on Twitter and our website ”, he celebrated.
