During the meeting, the importance of connecting ABES member companies with city governments was highlighted. Among the main actions discussed were mapping demands, aligning the needs of cities and obtaining resources to make projects viable. The group stressed the need for a humanized approach and the creation of a long-term culture within city governments so that the implementation of smart cities is successful in Brazil.

Highlights

The discussion reinforced the importance of supporting city governments in developing projects and managing and obtaining the resources needed for digital transformation. It was emphasized that partnerships with the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and municipal associations can be fundamental to the success of these initiatives.

Jamile Sabatini Marques, Director of Innovation and Development at ABES and leader of the Smart Cities Vertical, invited participants from the government to share their needs and perspectives, enriching the discussions with practical experiences and identifying concrete challenges that cities face. This interaction was seen as an essential step in aligning expectations and defining effective actions. The importance of providing training and qualifications for technical teams in city halls was another point mentioned. Jamile will share leadership of the vertical with Paula Faria, an experienced professional who created Connected Smart Cities.

Marcelo Almeida, Director of Government Relations at ABES, cited the lack of knowledge of advanced technologies in public security in state governments and city halls, highlighting the opportunity for software companies to get closer to those involved in these areas.

With the creation of the Smart Cities Vertical, ABES aims to contribute to the promotion of an effective digital transformation in Brazilian cities, encouraging the creation of smart cities that incorporate advanced technologies, promote sustainability and improve the quality of life of citizens.
