With the aim of improving the business environment and contributing to the development of public policies and Brazilian regulatory frameworks, ABES supported the event “Building a sustainable, inclusive and responsible AI”. The meeting took place this Wednesday (28/08) in Brasília (DF).

At the opening of the event, Paulo Milliet Roque, president of ABES, and Nicolás Robinson Andrade, Head of Public Policy for Latin America at OpenAI, welcomed the participants. Special guest Anna Makanju, Vice President of Global Affairs at OpenAI, was one of the highlights of the panel “Global Governance of AI: building a Sustainable, Inclusive and Responsible AI for All”, in which she discussed challenges and opportunities in the regulation and implementation of AI in Brazil and worldwide.

Andriei Gutierrez, Vice President of ABES, also attended a panel dedicated to the global future of AI against the backdrop of Brazil’s current leadership in the G20. The event’s program featured high-level debates that reinforced the relevance and urgency of the topic. The event featured the participation of a renowned team of speakers, including Eliana Emediato de Azambuja (MCTI), Marcio Elias Rosa (MDIC), Cristina Elsner (B20), Allan Rocha de Souza (IBDA), Bruno Bioni (T20), Felipe Hees (Itamaraty), Cesar de Morais (MINC), Andressa Bizzutti (USP), Luca Schirru (IBDA) and Sean Fynn (American University), who contributed with diverse perspectives on how artificial intelligence can be used in an ethical and sustainable manner.

Paulo Milliet Roque reinforced the association's commitment, stating that “ABES will continue to participate and encourage discussions and collaborations that drive responsible digital transformation, reinforcing Brazil's role in the global AI scenario”.

The seminar was organized by Alandar, led by Daniele Kleiner and Natalia Paiva, with support from Marcelo Almeida, Director of Government Relations at ABES. The event “Building a sustainable, inclusive and responsible AI” reaffirmed the need for continuous dialogue and collaboration between the public and private sectors to ensure that the development and implementation of AI in Brazil is done in a responsible and beneficial way for society as a whole.
