Called ChatPetrobras, a solution implemented with Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service will support Petrobras teams in generating creative and analytical content, with security and privacy

Petrobras developed, in partnership with Microsoft, a new internal tool for generating creative and analytical content to support its teams in their work tasks. Named ChatPetrobras, the tool uses the GPT model and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology from Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service. The application is now available through an internal portal for 110 thousand Petrobras workers, including employees and service providers, to carry out various activities such as preparing reports, summaries, presentations, in addition to answering users' questions and doubts. . The expectation is that the implementation of the platform will facilitate the Company's work routine, leading to reductions in time and costs in administrative and operational processes.

With this initiative, Petrobras joins the main global players who are pioneering generative AI, using the security provided by the Azure OpenAI Service to develop a solution for corporate use.

ChatPetrobras was developed based on information security, data protection, compliance, standards and regulations of the Brazilian government to which Petrobras is subject as a mixed economy company, avoiding the exposure of internal information and ensuring data integrity business. The solution has the most advanced security and protection layers native to Azure OpenAI Service and all data is protected under the Company's internal domain.

According to the executive manager of Information Technology and Communications at Petrobras, Carlos Augusto Barreto, the launch of ChatPetrobras is a milestone in the company's history and demonstrates its commitment to innovation and digital transformation. “Petrobras is a company that has always reinvented itself over its 70 years, seeking new solutions to the challenges of the energy sector. This solution represents a way of using artificial intelligence to increase the productivity, quality and efficiency of our processes”, he states.

With the use of ChatPetrobras, the company will have even more input to make faster and more accurate decisions, generate insights valuable for the business and optimize internal processes. The Azure OpenAI Service used in ChatPetrobras offers natural language understanding and generation, translation and code generation capabilities, and will benefit both business areas, for example Exploration & Production (E&P), Reservoirs and Wells, as well as administrative and corporate areas, such as Marketing, ICT, Engineering, Legal and Human Resources. The solution will serve as a base architecture for incorporating generative AI into the Company's applications and is part of the strategy to democratize the use of artificial intelligence at Petrobras. The state-owned company's ambition is for all its employees to be able to act as data scientists, having access, in a simple and agile way, to both technical skills and advanced tools to generate increasingly more value for the company through AI.

“We have a long-standing partnership with Petrobras and we are proud to collaborate so that the company can solve its challenges through technology. This initiative is a great example of how Microsoft's AI capabilities can be applied across a wide range of sectors and has the potential to contribute to the transformation of the Energy segment, improving workforce productivity and enhancing operational efficiency through insights and collaboration”, explains Ricardo Fernandes, vice president of Enterprise Business at Microsoft Brazil.
