YouTube launches Favela Gaming, a project that connects young people to the gaming universe

The Favela Gaming project, from YouTube, in partnership with Final Level Co. and Gerando Falcões, arrives with the objective of expanding the positive impact of the platform's gamer content, helping young people from underrepresented groups to achieve successful careers in the games industry, whether as a professional gamer, content creator or in other opportunities in the segment.

The action, which will begin in 2023, is planned to take place on three fronts:

  1. bootcamp: Workshops and lectures on the main subjects of the games and eSports market with issuance of certificates. These online courses will demonstrate the scope of the ecosystem, where the areas of expertise go far beyond sports performance and entertainment.
  2. Favela Cup: Online, championships of the main eSports modalities and an innovative Free Fire circuit will be held, seeking to train and provide the opportunity for professional development of talents in the community.
  3. Favela Gaming Arena: Physical space, built inside Favela 3D, a project by Gerando Falcões, where young people from the communities will be able to put into practice everything they have learned through professional equipment to make videos and lives.

“Having partners like Gerando Falcões and Final Level Co. carrying out this project is a source of great joy for us. It's another step towards amplifying voices and opportunities, directly reflecting YouTube's mission. In addition, being able to enable actions whose social impact will reverberate the message of unity, learning and evolution present in the gamer community is very important. Through Favela Gaming, YouTube reinforces the relevance of the Gaming vertical on the platform.”, says Manuelle Pires, Strategic Partnerships Manager at YouTube Gaming.

For Lemaestro, COO and co-founder of Gerando Falcões, the project speaks directly to many of the NGO's ongoing programs. “Our 3D Favela concept, for example: worthy, digital and developed, also aims to insert the creative minds of the broken into the market. One like this opens the way for young people from the favela to value their skills, expand their awareness and put them on the path of productive inclusion”.

“Games are a universal passion that encompasses all social classes. Democratizing the opportunities to enter this market, in addition to being socially responsible, makes the ecosystem more prosperous for all players. Being a partner of YouTube and Gerando Falcões in a project of this nature consolidates the role of Final Level Co as well as promoting the growth of this industry”, says Fernanda Lobão, co-founder and CEO of Final Level Co.

By the end of the year, the project's website will be available and will provide access to registration for participation, educational content, the community tournaments platform and engagement content from Favela Gaming friends.
